Aftermarket Cat Not Advised
Had an aftermarket cat installed on my 300e, big disappointment
it is loud ![]() Whole car also vibrates at idle. I'm sure it has something to do with the bracket at the bell housing which won't grab and fasten new cat. New cat also without the 2 precats.

Thanks for the heads up. The cat in my 1989 300TE may soon need replacing.

Aren't there different brands of universal CAT's?
What was yours? |

The dealer cat was priced at $3770 for my car. About double what the whole car is worth. There are aftermarket systems with pre-cats. Mine, made by CAT, came with one. The pipe is fatter so I had to find a slightly bigger U clamp for the support bracket. That was the only problem I found. It is plenty quiet.

Mine was DEC whatever that means at 286 bucks. Not the DEC brand that is over 1000 bucks. As a consolation, my car made it through emission testing.
