Sway Bar Bushings: Annoyance or Safety?

My front-end squeak/creak is due to my sway bar bushings (so I'm told). Is there a safety issue here, or simply an annoyance for as long as I'm willing to put up with it?

well... it only takes about 45 minutes and less than 20 bucks to fix them..

i would say right now more of an annoyance... spray some wd-40 there until you have a chance to change out
