SRS Light W210 after Steering Wheel R&R

I removed the steering wheel to tighten the turn signal mounting clamp, and after reassembly the SRS light is on.

I did reconnect the battery and start once before the airbag went back in (so I could verify steering wheel alignment) and am wondering if that might have set a fault code.

I know I clicked connector into the airbag, and the horn works, indicating the rear connector is engaged.

Thanks in advance for any troubleshooting timesaving.

If you turn the ignition to " ON ", with the airbag disconnected, it will set the SRS code.
Dealer has to reset it with his SDS. ;)

I wonder if pulling the steering wheel screws with the steering position sensor? To reset that you start car and turn the wheel lock to lock a couple of times.

Well, MB Wilmington wants minimum $100 and MB somewhere near Baltimore wants $106 minimum, both of which quotes impacted my emotional state negatively. The local indy, Ezio, says he can't do it, but I found Bavarian Motorsport in Kennett Square, PA who have happily volunteered to reset the light on Saturday at 8 am. I'll keep you posted.

However, I did come across some reset tools on a well-known auction site for around $180 including shipping. A better option than the stealer would be to buy that and then re-auction it or sell it here.

Side note: the R&R somehow revived my cruise-control switch, which didn't set in the up position anymore. It looked like it could be gunk on the contact, but I didn't have any CRC contact cleaner handy. Just fiddling seemed to do the trick, so at least I've saved myself the cost of a cruise switch.

I hate to tell you this, but you should have searched before embarking upon the job. I posted several times, not too long ago, regarding the need to avoid reconnecting the battery until the job is completed. The SRS light cannot be reset by a standard OBDII scanner; only a dealer or qualified indy with the Mercedes scanner can reset it.

I had hoped my experience would have helped someone here avert having to spend extra $$$, so I feel really bad for you reading that you somehow missed it...

Oh well, live and learn I guess. I had read the DIY article, which has no warning, and have done the job on my W124 before, so I didn't go overboard on research. As long as I don't end up funding a dealer I don't mind too much.

We really should put a warning on the DIY article - for some reason it won't let me post a comment though.

I'm just as guilty as the next guy - I can't tell you how many things I have made a mistake, only to find clear reference to it in later research.

You're right - who can edit the DIY to reflect the $100 warning to others?

Resolution: Bavarian Motorsport in Kennett Square, PA reset the light in 2minutes for free. I gave them $20 and can only recommend them for their friendliness and reasonableness.
