Obviously, some electronics would simplify the installation. Rigging the pressure switch to the governor passage is a new trick each time.
I always hated that it took two relays to do this circuit. I haven't done one in years, but the concept is anything but new. |
electronic 1st gear start module
has anyone used satish's electronic 1st gear start module on a 1989 300E (w124 chassis)? if so, does it work and how much did you pay for it?

Steve,
I have a 1987 E230 auto transmission which starts on the second gear. I happened to have a spare transmission taken off from a 1995 220E with 16valves. I would like to put this newer transmission onto my E230. Will there be any compatiblity problem? The 220E has electronic fuel injection and ignition. The E230 has CIS injection and a normal transistor ignition. I presume once the new transmission is intalled the car should than start off on first gear and move on up progressively. Thank You this is a great forum to be in. |
Yes, you can use the newer transmission regardless of fuel injection issues and yes, it will then start off in first gear if indeed the 1995 E220 did so.
