Slow Shifting
 

When I move the shifter from P to D or R, there is a delay before the trans actually engages to gear. Also, from R to D or any other combination. Furthermore, After a while of driving in fourth, the trans disengages from gear after 10 miles or so. If I pull the shifter down and back up again. it goes back into fourth but takes a few tries.
Would these be symptoms of degraded fluid and a clogged filter (which doesn't smell bad or discolored btw) or am I looking at something more?

I'd certainly start with a fluid and filter change, including dropping the pan to look for debris. Empty torque convertor as well. I'd probably also start saving up...

the slow engagement points to the reverse clutches being worn out.the dropping out of 4th suggests that the little screens that protect the govenor fluid circuit are clogged with the debris from aforementioned clutches.
