The owner is asking a whopping $28K and understandably so so it may be the lowest mileage W-140 in existence. I have seen it, and it is virtually flawless. But i dont know if it is worth it.

Any opinions? I am a BMW guy and love my car, but such an exclusive and low mileage car is really tempting.
For the love of whatever is Holy to you...don't buy the 600! As tempting as it is, I'd stay away. My friend sold his for $3000 last year with tens of thousands of $$$ in repairs all dealer maintanined and owned from new. I saw a repair bill for over $8000 and the file was huge!

Repairs bills might have you resort to criminal activities and lose your hair, maybe develop a drinking habit.

The 600 does not drive anything like an E38 and feels heavy and sloppy in comparison. If you want a heavier car, buy an E38 Proctection series .

I love the W140 and I love V12s, but I'm not stupid .

I'd say no to the low mile car. Miles that low are actually a deterrent to me as this means it's been sitting. All kinds of things need attention on a car of that age regardless of mileage and besides the price is stupid.

My friends 1995 S600 has been damn near flawless, they are cheaper to own then a similer Ferrari so in that regard not so bad. IMHO the MB V12 is better designed and built then both the Jag and BMW V12's of similer vintage.

Good cars, they do cost a bit to repair but you can't have everything. Honestly if repair costs are that much of a concern you can't afford one. I figure a normal MB is going to cost me $2k-$3k a year to own, for a V12 I would double those numbers.

The 600 M120 V12 is a fantastic motor. Silky smooth, with loads of torque.

I have one in the form of a 1996 SL600. Its fantastic. I have had very few problems with it, and suprisingly it is the cheapest to run MB my family has ever owned..... Just regular maintainence and plenty of fuel keep it on the road.

Would I buy another V12 powered Mercedes..... Hell yes.

Would I take a 750iL or a similar vintage W140 S600? Thats a hard call... I love the look of the BMW, and I love the look of the W140.... But in my book, the MBZ motor is that much better, so I would be that much happier with the car.

I think once I've been working for a while (I graduate in 3 months) I will be looking into obtaining a late 90's S600 if I can find one for a good deal. This would be the companion to my 300SD. I'm not sure what my relatives and in-laws would/will think of me if I drove a car like that though. It'd be enjoyable. And of course it would have to be black. It appeals to me....

If I am not able to make much $$ as I hope I'll probably have to settle for a S420 or S320....but I think I'd be ok.
