cabin temperature sensor sampling fan 91 124

Hi and thanks to all for information I gotten in these forums. I have just bought a 91 300d 2.5 l turbo diesel. I love the car. Really, often I catch myself gazing out the window at it. I sit in it for no reason. Its fast gets almost 30 mpg U.S. gal and rides nice on the highway. However the ac doesn't work well. When it does work it does not modulate. The thing just blows full cool until it stops and then it does not start again until the next day maybe. Some times after the car sits it will come back to life. I try running it on high or low manual but that doesent work either.
Is there a fan relay that may be fouled? could it be the sampling fan I tried the piece of paper sticking to the sensor by the dome light it did not stick. So I am guessing this may be one of the problems. My questions are
1) where might I find this sampling fan which draws cabin air over the sensor?
2) where is the fan relay.
thanks all for any help....tk

Remove the glove box liner and that fan is to the right. It has a hose on it.

Thankyou very much.

I found the fan and just wanted to elaborate on the location. It is behind the glove box liner to the right as said. It sits in a foam rubber bracket just below the side air vent. It is not held in by screws bolts or clips its simply a friction fit inside its donut of foam. disconnect the wires and push it out. The rubber hose connecting it to the cabin vent is about a half inch diameter. The motor fan unit is about one and a quarter inches in diameter and 3 inches long. Mine did not spin too freely so I lubed it with a light oil and put it back. I have not yet had a chance to test and see if this was the problem with my intermittent blower.

No... that was not the problem. It appears to have been the klima relay located behind the battery under the water skirt.
