Need help to identify this part
1 Attachment(s)
Spending another weekend trying to track down my hard hot start problem on my 1984 500SEC. Ready to install new injectors, seats and seals. Found what appears to be a weeping fuel hose directly above the rear axle and below the fuel tank. Small hose weeping is about three inches long.
Anyone know what kind of fuel line this is? Under pressure or return? And what is the part that appears to be a filter or damper attached to the line? Thanks in advance. Dan |
I guess it's a hydraulic oil valve (but not sure). Do you have a self-leveling rear suspensions or ADS?

Just a guess, but looks like it could be a fuel pressure valve of an older vintage.

It's called a fuel tank vent valve. There's two different versions that work - 1074700993 and 1234700393.

The vent is from the fuel tank, and it vents to the intake manifold thru charcoal cannister.

I forgot the exact name. It may be called a purge valve or something like that. In any case it has to do with the evaporative emmision system. I will be under fuel tank pressure so if you remove the gas cap it will not be under pressure and liquid gas should not come out of is or the line its attached to.
