Big surprise while bleeding brakes- different front calipers

Bled my w124 1988 300ce brakes yesterday (car was bought used 5 years ago). The right front was, as expected, the single piston floating caliper where the part holding the piston unbolts and swings up. However, I discovered the left front was a fixed single piston unit with the two pins and the spring clip, like the rear brakes. Obviously, my car's front brakes are no longer the way mb intended. Although vehicle stops well, since most braking power comes from the front brakes should I replace the front left caliper and return to the stock setup? Thanks.

So you have different pad designs on the two wheels? If so, definitely get that sorted out.

If the pads are identical and the pistons are the same diameter, it's a harder call.

Both sides should be the same. If they are both functioning and you've not noticed a problem, you would seem to have the option of going with either style.

Well, I checked this morning and either someone switched the brakes or I was too tired to see clearly yesterday. Both calipers are the same, and all is well. Sorry for taking up time.
