How to restore a 300ce

I want to restore my 1992 300ce with 123k miles on it. I have always put 91 octane in it (the highest here in California) Over the past few months the car has been getting REALLY sluggish. My throttle is not responsive at all, gas millage is through the roof, and overall its about time the car got some new parts...

Can someone list a bunch of things that would most likely need changing or that would make my car run better overall, for example, spark plugs, spark plug wires, fuel pump, air filter, fuel injectors, o2 sensor, distributar cap/rotor. Thats all I can think of...any other suggestions

You might consider replacing the coil too. If you perfrom routine maintenance it's surprising that the engine's performance deteriorated so rapidly. Fuel filter replacement is every 60,000 miles ... I'd start there if it wasn't done at 120,000 miles ... and replace the distributor cap/rotor. If the ignition wires are original you may want to replace them ... I recommend Beru wires ... more expensive, but better than Bosch. Spark plugs (Bosch F8DC4) and air filter should be replaced every 30,000 miles.

Plugs, wires, all filters, cap/rotor, and coil as basic replacement items. You don't need a fuel pump unless yours is failing (which it doesn't sound like it is), you could do the 02 sensor if you want to, but if it's failing, you'd get a light on the dash - they do seem to "wear out" around 100k miles though.

Run some injector cleaner through it for a few tanks, and make sure the tires are full of air.

i always like detail my car. Placebo effect.

I also run BG44k through it once a year. Use techron at the 6 month interval.

Right now our CE needs center vent pods and motor mounts.

However, I did recently do plugs, rotor, and distributor cap for preventative purposes.

Catalytic Convertor?

I've heard the when a Catalytic Converter starts to plug-up, the engine will get sluggish and run warmer than normal....the 1992CE should be a rocket!

In my opinion, before you spend a ton of money on other parts, drop the exhaust and take if for a quick spin...

Just my 2¢ worth....
