For a good used gearbox, try ebay or keep scanning the "Parts" section of this forum until something turns up.
If the gearbox is just leaking, why not try fixing the leak? You can buy a re-seal kit for about $20 which contains every single seal for that gearbox. The gearbox is easily removed from the vehicle. There's even a rebuild write-up somewhere here (do a search). For a weekend of work and about 20 bucks, you could have nice power steering.

If you can find a pick/pull yard near by, its pretty easy to pull the gearbox yourself, and then swap it w/ the one on your car (if its similar to the 300e). All it takes is disconnecting some p/s fluid lines, then keeping the wheel centered, removing 3 mounting screws on the side of the fender, and pulling the pitman arm w/ a puller (just don't use the 3-prong puller, doesn't work so well...).
On the 300e, w/ no prior knowledge or experience pulling on, my friend and i took it out in about 2 hours, but looking back if you knew what to do and had the proper tools it would take substantially less time - we also played around taking apart a door and some of the interior.

on the 300e, its located basically to the back side of the front driver's side wheel. If you look at the wheel straight on, to the right side of the wheel well, you should see 3 bolts, which are the bolts that hold the gearbox to the car. Or if you look behind the airbox towards the firewall and straight down it should be there.

Unfortunately, those do fail commonly on these cars. Luckily, not much else does. Good luck with the repair. But someday it may fail on you again
