My Haynes manual dosent cover installation of the rear wheel bearings for my 1983 300D turbo. Can I do this myself? What is the procedure? The fronts were easy. Thanks.

hal,
If you do replace your own rear wheel bearings would you mind jotting down notes on steps and difficulties, if any, and take photos if possible? I am considering replacing mine and I think I'll play chicken for a bit. Thanks. Rick |
The replacement of the rear bearings on a W123 is a pain. It requires special tools and isn't easy with those. You may want to look into getting a used rear control arm assembly. Usually they go for $125.00 and bearing failures are rare.
