Seat belt presenters stopped working

Both my seat belt presenters stopped working over the weekend. One morning I went to get in my car and found the driver's side presenter extended (had to push it back) and the passenger side presenter stuck in the hole (had to pull it out and realign the loop). They haven't been working since.

The only thing out of the ordinary I can think of is that I lubed the door locks the night before, and was working the key back and forth, with the locks going up and down.

All fuses look okay. Is there a satellite fuse for this?

To me the day that the seat belt presenters stop working, in the retracted position, is cause for celebration. It's not that hard to reach down low and grab the seat belt with your outside hand. I just think they are nuissance, the quinessential fragile, expensive, unnecessary gadget. I say good riddance. I haven't been any help in fixing it, have I?

In a way I agree with you. I have little problem with reaching low to grab the belt. My personality is such the everything that can work in a car should work - I'm funny that way.

I wonder if this problem is related to the cabriolet top not working (nearby post). The conv top microswitches indicated by the error codes are near the passenger seat belt presenter, which was found out of alignment. I'll have to take the interior panel off and examine the wiring.

there should be two switches in the door jambs... one for lights , the other for presenters.... try shooting a bit of wd40 in there..

our [passenger side works all the time...the drivers is intermittent... i think there is also something tied to the ignition switch...
