Help: W124 Front Window Installation
Hi Guys,
Thanks to Skiier 3 9's (94 W124 Door Panel Removal) detailed instructions w/ photos, I was able to successfully remove the door panel without breaking any of the inverted J clips. Can someone help me w/ a step by step installation of the front (passenger side/right side) window? I'm sure it's the same process for the driver's side as well. Photos will surely help too. Some questions: 1. Do I need to remove the window lift rail bolts or do I just slide in the replacement window in the window running rails? 2. After removing the door panel and inner/outer sealing rail, I pressed the power window button to lift the window mechanism to the closed window position. I noticed that the front part of the window running rail hits the sheet metal at almost the closed window position. I'm guessing that the thief who broke my window shattered the window from its back part thereby misaligning the mechanism. My question is, Do I need to do some kind of alignment or will it align itself once the new window is in place? I'm trying to be cautious here because I don't want to break the new window. 3. I still haven't bought the passenger front window for my 92 300 TE wagon. My question is, will any of the 86-95 W124 (260 E or 300 E) sedan windows have the same window as my 300 TE? I have a couple of junk yards that I've already called but I want to make sure before I buy the window that might come from a W124 sedan. 4. Do I need to change the rubber strip that holds the window in the window running rails? And do I need to put some type of adhesive if I need to change the rubber strip? At the moment, there are still some shattered glass imbedded in the rubber strip. I appreciate your inputs. Advanced thanks. ako |
