I have a few teeth on my flywheel that are worn a bit and was wondering if it's anything to worry about. The worst one has probably between 1/16" and 1/8" of wear on it, but none of them are chipped off.
My suspicion is that with a fully protruding starter gear, this small amount of wear is nothing to be concerned over, but I'd like to hear from those more experienced than I. Thanks in advance!

Run it.
The worse can happen is you will get pre-mature wear on bendix drive..a small price comparision to changing a ring gear.. ..and stop hitting the starter when the engine is runnig... ![]() ![]() |

Related, but new question
Should the flywheel ring gear be totally clean or would some high temp grease be a good idea?

No grease.
It would be thrown off from inertia anyway.

Grease the bendix in the starter?

The only part to grease would be on the starter, where the bendix slides during engagement ( and dis-engagement ).
