98 CL600 Cylinder bank shuts down when warmed up

I have an 1998 CL600. The car starts okay, but when eng temp reaches 80-90 degrees, one bank of cylinders shuts down. The engine will start again with difficulty when warm. But after the engine cools everything is OK again until eng temp reaches 80-90 degrees

I have just replaced all ignition coils, plugs and wires.

What could this be?

Thanks,
john

I had that on my 400E, and finally traced it to bad carbon tracking on one of the distributor caps. Digging a bit further, I found that the plug gaps were way too high, which increases the voltage drop inside the cap, which caused the carbon tracking. (They were the most expensive distributor caps I ever replaced!)

Spook
