What are the differences between the 722.320 box and the
722.358 box. Any info would be appreciated. Can they be interchanged? Thanks

The only differences that I know of are the solenoids. The 722.320 has one used for upshift delay during warm up period (right rear of transmission). The 722.358 has an additional one at the front left side of transmission. I forgot what that one is used for.

The two transmissions are interchangeable. You'll just have a solenoid without a input wire.
What is this for? Are you planning on changing your transmission?

Well Vin, not sure yet. Mine is hanging partially engaged in reverse. Donnie thinks it's a pin on the apply piston that has broken. I'm not sure, yet as the problem disappeared magically for a day, then returned. Just changed the filter and fluid again. So, I am awaiting some tech data from Mike M. I will review and make a decision as to where I will go with this. I am inclined to think I can repair the reverse clutch pack. Donnie stated it was accessible form the front of box after removing oil pump. Thanks for your concern.

I would definitely have the trans repaired rather than putting in a used one. While it's out you might as well change the clutch packs and check clearance on front bushing.
My memory is coming back to me, I think. The rear solenoid is used for kick down and the front, which is on the 722.358, is used for the upshif delay during warm up. Maybe somebody can confirm this.
The bottom line is they can be interchanged, but you should look into repairing you original rather than risking it with a used one (I'm assuming that it's used, is it?).
