W124 - Hood Closing issue
 

Does anyone else have troubles closing their W124 hood. I have a 1990 300e and it literially takes me 3-10 times of closing it to get the latch to hold. Even then, after driving and hitting the first large bump the hood pops up while driving, only then after closing it yet again will it stay shut. A bit embarrassing sitting there trying to close the hood on a Merc. over and over again.

There are two little round rubber bumpers...one on each side...that set the height of the closed hood. You might try lowering those a bit.

Let me try that, although I think one is missing the rubber part, but will try and adjust the other. - thanks

A couple shots of good quality spray-grease into the latches should take care of it. Back in the day, this was done during regular maintenance service.
