202 front brake pads installed backwards?

Car's in the shop for new water pump, and my guy noticed that the front pads were installed backwards. A friend and I did these in March. I don't remember any instructions, warnings, or visible differences with the pads.

Is this possible? Or is he trying to stiff me to "correct" the issue for $108?

if your pads were installed backwards you would hear a bad grinding noise on every application of the brakes and the rotors would be ruined.what he prob is alluding to is that the sensor is on the outboard pad instead of the inboard.this can [but not always] result in the sensor wire being rubbed by the rotor as it crosses over and bring on the brake pad light.

I think what he meant was that one pad was meant for the inside of the rotor, and one for the outside, to clarify. That's why I'm confused,

The inner pad has a spring clip that fits inside the piston. The outer pad does not.

Oh well, still cheaper than having the shop do the job from the beginning
