when I hit a bump in the road. When I go over a bump/pothole with the passenger side wheels, the car seems to jump sideways to the right a couple inches. I recently replaced the shocks (it happened before the replacement). Has anyone ever experienced this, and what could this be?

This has been covered numerous times with respect to the 300E. Your rear suspension in the 190E is very similar.

You need to checkyour front suspension. You could have a bad ball joint, worn A frame bushings, worn drag link, worn idler arm bushing, or tie rod end. Get under the car and shake the steering linkage and have an assistant moke the stering wheel and look for lost movement in the steering linkage. It should be obvious if something is bad.
