Bleeding ABS Brakes

Does anyone have experience pressure-bleeding an ABS Brake System, specifically a '96 SL600? But any mid-90's would be equally good. This is where you pressurize the brake reservoir with ~20psi and bleed the brakes by allowing the pressure to force fresh fluid through the brake lines.

In theory, this should work exceptionally well. But I have read a couple threads on the subject - some say it works, while others say the ABS block is not properly purged. The official MB Maintenance Manual uses an elaborate method that requires the infamous mushroom head for manually controlling the ABS control. I'm looking for a simpler solution and/or more input on the subject.
