Is This A Good Deal
 

I have an 89 300TE, I am going to have the head gasket changed, all gaskets above the head, new rotor, new distributor cap, new belt, new water pump,left rear shock, rear wheel bearings,valve stems, flex disc front and rear, drive shaft seal, pinion shaft seal for $2200 labor, $250 for the head milling, plus parts which I am supplying. My Indy is excellent, he works on my Audi TT and Volvo, just trying to get a handle on labor charges.
Also while he has the engine torn apart is there anything else that should be checked, changed, cleaned???

I think is a very good deal.
I paid 3000$ for a head job plus bearing bracket and EGR pipe. 600$ was for the machine shop, 1400 was for labor and the rest was for parts.

I think it's a pretty fair price, and lucky that your mechanic is letting you supply the parts.

I personally feel they should be allowed to get a make up on them and supply them themselves. One analogy would be like when the customer brings his own meat to a restaurant and asks them to cook it.

It gets troublesome when a customer supplied part fails and the problem is brought back to the mechanic.
