Ignition lock stuck, windows open
 

Ignition switch and steering wheel locked in the 0 position, has been thru the threads on that.. can deal with that later

Immediate problem is my windows are open and I can't turn on the ignition to close em..

1985 380SE

Is there a way I can jury-rig juice to the power windows so I can get em to close?

After two months of drought now it rains... sigh... the story of my life..

got it kinda tarped, but if the wind blows hard the plastic sheeting will be flying down the road...

Obviously you will need to replace the ignition tumbler. Please bear with me here.
Chances are you do not have the new part with you. I had a slightly different experience and decided to change the "electrical" part of the ignition switch. When I removed the ignition tumbler and compared the old with the new I discovered the new "electrical" part did not have the "locking" mechanism that secures the ignition switch to the ignition wiring.

If this is the case (because a previous owner has at some time already replaced the tumbler) with your car you may be able to unplug the electrical from the back of the switch tumbler and jump the appropriate pins.

Perhaps someone here can help you with the correct contacts. I do not know this information.

What I was looking for is the easiest way to access the electrics in the door.. in the kick panel, or the door itself.. unplug from the main .. apply 12 volts to the motor that runs the windows...gotta be a connector somewhere in there... so the door can be removed, if need be...

got it figured out... Fuse for windows was cold with ignition off... ran a jumper wire from battery to fuse... All buttoned up, now..

I will deal with the iginition switch in my own time, since this car is not my daily driver...

local locksmith tweedled with it for a while... DOA... gonna have to drill it out...He recommended a carbide tipped concrete drill... Sounds crazy, but it just might work...

now all I have to do is order up the parts... will go for the properly keyed cylinder.. and get a factory key while I am at it... Aftermarket key I have (the only one I got with the car) is pretty worn..
