Help!!!!! Odd message under odometer on C230!!
 

I've been driving my girlfriends 2000 C230. I noticed a 'tool' with a number that I'm taking to be mileage where the trip numbers usually appear. The 'message' disappears after a few seconds. Is this a maintainance indicator and if so how do I 'fix' it?

It is indicating an A or B service due. At the very least the oil needs to be changed.

I'll look up the 'A' and 'B' service and have the oil changed. Will doing these automatically turn the 'msg' off or do I need to reset something?

You can reset it, or the dealer if you go there. You can search for the reset directions using search or they are in the manual. I would not recommend quicky-lube as they will possibly cause more harm than good.

I plan to change the oil myself. I haven't found the schedule maint lists yet though. I'll look for the resetting method also.
I noticed you had a Vega - I had one also - a '78 wagon at that. My friends and I would put together about 5 bucks to fill the gas tank and make the trip home from college - man, those were the days!!!
