W140 V12 - Whoa!!!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TWENTY-ONE-THOUSAND-MILES-1-Owner-NO-RESERVE-45-Pix_W0QQitemZ250156153895QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item250156153895

I know, I know, this should probably go in the Ebay links thread...

...but SWEET TONATO what a gorgeous car!

I know that owning a 140 V12 can quickly and ownership is not for the faint of heart, but this one - wow, just wow.

I'm sure there are critiques to be found - would like to hear any flaws you see.

Will be very interested to see what this beauty sells for.

That is sure a beauty all right, and only about 30 miles from me.

Beautiful car.

What I find difficult to comprehend is that the car has only 29K and no service records ?

Something is not right.

Matt, I saw this car too, and it is very tempting. I don't know the dealer, but he gets some very nice cars. I keep going back and forth on the W140 V12 cars. Usually reality sets in when I realize, that there is no one who can fix'em up here and the costs involved. On this car, the ashtray looks like its been used, and with no records, it's Russian Roulette. I would run a check through an interested MB Dealer, and see what the factory records are on the car. It has a Michelin Spare in the trunk, may have never been n the ground, but the dealer say's the car has like new Continentals on it. At 29,000 miles, too soon for tires, unless it was driven fast and hard. Curious to see what it sells for. If I was closer, I would check it out, just out of curiosity. I think I talked myself out of it again.

The worst temptations I get for wanting a W140 is when I hear someone tell me they never had major issues with it....which is rare!

It's a US model and does not have ASR. Personally I won't buy it even if it was new.

Oh, I agree. I would never purchase any car sight unseen. Let alone from Ebay. Let alone a W140 from Ebay, let ALONE a V12 140 from Ebay.

This one sure is nice to look at though. Absolutely stunning - I don't know if the mileage is correct or not and I don't care because I'm not going to buy the car.

That said, it sure is nice to gaze at this car and see what MB was (is) capable of when they have Rolls Royce and Bentley square in their sights.

If , If..??

That is a good price regardless. For having 28 bids, some folks really want this car. Iam sure "some" of these bidders know the work it will need like it did. And hopefully they can do the work themselves. That car was never driven; very unfortunate. I will predict at least 25k$. Heck, I would have taken that chance in a heart beat. Somebody will get a nice car..life is too short

Nice car and some good pics. Did not have time to go into real detail, but it just seems peculiar that:

1/- The pic were date of manufacture is shown: the year is blacked out.

2/- Worldwide by 1998 model year, ALL S600s had Parktronic as STANDARD, and this car does not have it. Maybe in the U.S. it was different, but seems weird.

3/- Finally, the airbag is a COMPLETELY different shade of grey from the original wheel and dash tone. This usually tells of a new airbag being installed after production (at factory all shades of interior components are carefully matched, afterwards is just luck that they match). Hence: an accident! How bad? Well, you just have to guess... but bad enough that the airbag was deployed.

It is a aftermarket leather cover over the center steering wheel, with a plastic MB logo in the middle,it covers the original plastic, not a replacement steering wheel

No, that leather is a part of the "Exclusive Leather"
that these later S600 had. But, I too did notice the
slight difference in color.

br,
syljua.
