1999 C230 Kompressor - Center Vent Wheel closes but will not open flap
 

My center A/C vent wheel seems to have broken this morning. It will close the flap in the center vent but will not open it. I can open the flap by pushing it open with a screw driver and close it with the wheel but cannot open the flap with the wheel.

I am hoping that I can remove just the center vent assembly from the dashboard and fix it or simply replace the assembly without removing the dash.

I searched the posts but did not find anything that says I can or cannot R&R the vent assembly only.

Does anyone know if this is can be done and, if so, how to remove the center vent assembly?

I think if you take a strong flashlight & shine it in the vent, you will see little retaining tabs, that need to be pushed ( through the " screen " ), to unlatch the vent & pull it out. ;)
