No reverse in 722.5 transmission
I have a problem with a Mercedes transmission. It is a 722.5 and the reverse is gone. Every other gear works fine. When it is put into reverse it is almost as though it is put in park. It seems to want to roll but also acts like it is in forward and reverse at the same time.
I can't bring myself to believe that the transmission needs a complete rebuild. It doesn't slip or make noise at all. It just quit going into reverse with no warning. I have been told by someone that this is a common problem with the 722.5 transmission. If anyone has any information on a cure for this I would greatly appreciate it. Ed |

Yes, it's a common problem.. 5$ seal lets go and no more reverse..
You have to tear down the trans about half way to get @ it so I say go ahead and tend to Everything. Jonathan
