Dreaded Rear Window Regulator Failure

It was due and now the 98E300 rear window regulator has failed. I have some specific questions before I pull it and put a new one in.

The cable came of the wheel, I can see the wheel (pulley) and it either has a crack in it or a slot. I don't guess there is any sense in trying to put the cable back on the wheel and have to take it apart in another week?

The regulator is rivited in. Will a new one come with screws? I tape the window up and drill out the rivits?

Can anyone recommend where to buy a new one?

Is there anything I should fix or oil while I have the door open?

Thanks

I've done this....

and I got the parts from Phil at the site above where it says "Buy Parts". I drilled our the old rivets and bought a heavy-duty riveter from Sears to install the new ones. You really have to squeeze hard to pop those new rivets.
I seem to remember a slot for catching the loose end of the cable but can't be sure. This is not such a tough job. Just go slow and put things back in reverse order. There is a lot of info on this forum about how to do this. Try a search on W210 windo regulator for starters.

Do a search. Here is a thread that might help:

Thanks, blocked it up waiting and for the new regulator. Doesn't look like a problem.

I guess I can plan on doing the other rear window this year.

For some reason.....

it seems like the left rear widow suffers this failure first. So far that's the only one on my car that has failed.

Mine also, but on mine it was the motor not the mechanism.
