although the 124 drives smaller it is not that much lighter....maybe 100#. And although they feel a little ponderous at low speeds as you go faster they get to feeling smaller.

I realize the thread is about maintenance costs, which I suspect are pretty similar, but to me the answer is a 124 - simply because it looks like a much more modern car, especially in the 94/95 variety. There's only about five years difference in their respective life cycles but the 126 looks long in the tooth to me.
