83 380 SEL - Help! I flubbed my Dub!

I removed the 4 bolts holding the shifter to the tunnel, unplugged the 2 wire connector at the back right-side and pulled out the little gaget the wire connector was plugged into. As it was coming out it sort of hung up and as it came out it sprang apart and something shot out of it, went through the window and landed somewhere in the grass. An hour of searching left me empty handed. Whatever came out is gone forever.

The part number is: 1265450114.

Can anybody tell me what this is and where to get one.

Call your MB Dealer's Part Department and have them look it up and give you the bad news and then say yes I'll take one please! Or do your wallet a favor and pull one from the salvage yard.

Life is good again.

Oh boy, oh joy! I walked out this morning, the sun was just right and spotted a small white piece with a round socket at one end and a small brass roller at the other. After looking at it for awhile I figured out how fits into the main assembly, and that I must still be missing the spring that fits into the round socket.

After more study, I pulled apart a retractable ball point pen, took out the spring and fitted into the assembly. It fits and works perfectly!

I guess I now have a Mercedes-Bic.
