Instrument Panel - 1989 300E
Anyone know what the little red fuse on back of the instrument panel controls? It looks like a bulb socket but it is really a fuse.

Instrument cluster/interior "switch" lighting.

Could you please explain how the fuse effects interior lighting? For example, if the rear dome is dim or doesn't come on, and the bulb and switch each is good, is the fuse a possible culprit? Thanks.

I have always wondered what that red "bulb" socket was for also. It is only on the newer W201 and W124 car instrument clusters, something like 1991 and newer I think. I have never been sure what it does or what it is for either, I'm interested....
