fan clutch pulley replacement m103
I have a fan clutch assembly that is making a lot of noise. Had to replace my radiator anyway, so I thought I would do the jobs at the same time. I've done several searches on this. I have everything done up to the point of taking off the fan clutch assembly including taking off the fan Is this as simple as pulling off the bracket assembly and putting on the new one? I read something about sealing one of the bolts but someone else said there is an O-ring so now I'm a little unsure. Is there a gasket I need?

If I remember right, that left-most (driver-side in America) bolt has to have sealant or it will leak oil. That bolt also holds the belt tensioner bracket.
|
I finally got brave, and just took the bracket off. No gasket, but there is an O-ring right where you said there was. Thanks.

The local mercedes dealer doesn't carry the o-ring. They told me to take it to Orchard Supply Hardware and get a similar sized o-ring.

Here's the o-ring that you need - sold through this web site: http://catalog.worldpac.com/mercedesshop/sophio/wizard.jsp?partner=mercedesshop&clientid=catalog.mercedesshop&baseurl=http://catalog.peachparts.com/&cookieid=25D0QUJAO26V1DT5OA&year=1986&make=MB&model=300-E-002&category=A&part=Timing+Cover+O-Ring&appEngines=10-002577-

Thanks for that, I will order that o-ring. I'm always a little nervous to substitute parts.

Can someone tell me where this O-Ring is? When I was taking everything apart I bagged and tagged everything and I do not remember an O-ring while removing the fan clutch, fan, or anything like that.
