1992 190E 2.6 - Crank position sensor?
Hello all,
I'm more a diesel guy, so forgive my ignorance here. Where is the crank position sensor on a '92 2.6? The car runs PERFECT (when it runs) but will sometimes stall, run rough, and fall on its face. When attempting starting during these episodes, it will "skip" and occasionally backfire. I've checked the OVP relay, vacuum, and other such obvious things but it just seems to be getting an odd fire. Tends to happen more when at operating temp. but sometimes at cold start as well. Thanks! Klaus |
There's actually two sensors known as the crankshaft position sensor, strangely. One goes from the ignition control module to the top of the bell housing. The other one, also known as the TDC sender, goes to the front bottom of the engine. You have a private message.

Thanks for the response and message. I assume the rear is the one that actually sends the signal to the computer? I know on my diesels the front sensor is for the tach. Does the front have any bearing on the way ignition is goverened on the 103? Klaus |
