1993 W201 2.6 Tranny Removal Question
has anyone removed or is it possible to remove the automatic transmission in a 190E 2.6 without removing the engine?
|
yes

Yeah just loosen up the bolts that connect the tranny to the engine, make the proper disconnects and pull it out.
|
well maybe the more specific question is, are all the bolts accessible from under the car without pulling the engine? perhaps it would be better to get an answer from someone who has done this before
|
yeah all bolts are accessible, but I suggest you use a lot of extensions so you can reach the bolts and get some good torque on them so you can loosen them.
Just pulled a tranny from 1991 190E 2.6 like a month ago not too hard. |
I just pulled my tranny from a 2.3, on the 2.6 the engine is a lot closer to the radiator, but you should still be able to do it.
Disconnect the driveshaft, the exhaust, the tranny mount and anything else connected to the tranny, then lower the tranny as far as it will go without letting the engien run into the firewall or the fan into the rad, and you should be able to reach the transmission bolts with a long extension, leave the bolts on 9 and 3 o'clock until the very end, they will keep everything lined up so nothing gets warped or damaged. Oh and don't forget to undo the torque converter. xp |
