W126 trans modulator pressure?

Which was increases modulator pressure on the 560SEL? I can't find if it is CCW or CW.

Thanks

CW is typical. Can't say 100% for that specific vehicle, but, I'd doubt it's opposite.

Which one "softens" the shifts? Is it CW or CCW? The reason I ask is that my 380SE has always shifted a little too firm for my taste. There are no vacuum leaks anywhere, this thing is in top shape. So I'm guessing I might need to just turn the modulator about 1/2 turn one way or the other...

CCW should soften the shifts.

Thanks! Are we talking gradual adjustments (quarter or half turns), or major (like 2 or 3 turns)?

I believe we are talking 2 or 3 turns.........but, I've not done it personally.

Gradual turns a eighth to a quarter at a time.

I may need to replace the modulator valve on my 380SE(loss of tranny fluid and no leaks apparent, no smoke that I can see either.) is it a job I can do or do I have to take it to a shop? I have replaced these on american cars with no problems, but haven't looked at this one yet.
