part number false firewall w124?
Long story short - my relays and ECU are getting wet because there is no false firewall with the rain gutters. What is the part number for this so I can buy one for my 1987 300E?
Thanks. John

Are you talking about the plastic cover that shields the ECU and OVP? Behind the battery?

yes, I know they didn't come on the earlier 124s, but they did on the later ones, but it looks like it should be there. From what I understand there are little gutters to keep the water from getting into the electrical stuff.

I just finished sealing that area against intrusion of rain water. I have a '95 E320 wagon.
Found that at the bottom of the windshield there is a channel, about 3/16 wide. It's function is to accept the EPDM (rubber) weatherstripping that seals against the windshield. In my case it is damaged. It's only available together with a windshield. If you get water leaking underneath this weatherstrip it will damage stuff. Butyl rubber comes in strips and makes a good seal. |

Where you want to check is the gutters lead to down tubes at each fender end. The water then comes out the bottom of each fender well. These tubes block up all the time from leaves and stuff, but you can clear them by lifting the gutter ends and sticking a garden hose right in the tubes to clear them out. Takes just a few min.....
