Front Grill Assembly
My neighbor backed into my benz, crunched the front grill, so I'm looking for a replacement. this is for a 1995 E-320 sedan. There's lots of aftermarket stuff, is this the same product as the stealership? they charge $400 for this thing, while online, prices are around $150. I guess the question is, buy from the dealership, or buy online? and does it really matter? what is the part #? dealership says 124-880-0783, but I've seen 0983, is this for the coupe or somthing, does it matter?
Is there a cool aftermarket upgrade to make it look more sporty? Thanks! |
While I have had great luck with aftermarket parts bought online, this is one part I bought that sucked! Did not fit well at all.
Best bet is to find a good used one. |
I'll echo Brewtwo's comment. I need to replace the radiator grille on my W124 also, and the aftermarket product I purchased did not fit at all.
The only think I liked about it was the plastic insert was black not grey. It looked a lot more stylish and I'm considering painting the plastic when I pick up an OEM version. |
Try eBay...I've gotten a couple grills off there that are reasonably priced and in decent shape. One of them brand new!
Here's a couple links: Hope neighbor's insurance will pay for it! If so get the dealership one. Good Luck! |
neighbor is paying for it. So, I suppose I'll just get OEM, although I feel kinda bad charging him $450 for it, although he did run into it and his deductable is $500. bummer.

There is no deductible on liability insurance, only on collision and comprehensive. He should definitely notify his insurance company and they'll pay. However, they won't pay for a new one.
Every state has a minimum claim threshold below which the insurance company can't increase rates as a result of the claim. In other words, for a claim this small, your neighbor has nothing to lose to notify the insurance company. You, on the other hand, will not get a 450 grille. you should call Potomac German Auto for a good used one, they are on the web at www.pgauto.com. I've gotten several fantastic parts from them. Try to speak with Pat. |
