Sold the MB - Thanks so much for your support

Well, it happened.

Sold the 300E. I have no MB to talk to you about. The 300E was my 3rd MB, but I am now completely MB-free. It was my aunt's car for 15 years, then mine since, so it was in the family for a long time.

Finally decided that keeping a 21 year old car going as my daily driver was just too much of a "hobby" within the context of my other obligations. We had relegated it to 3rd car status, but just did not use it enough to justify the operating costs. Tough to let it go.

Luckily, the buyer was a huge MB enthusiast who really wanted that 5-speed magic.

Before disappearing into the sunset (with 1129 posts), I just wanted to thank everyone here for providing so much support over the past 5 or 6 years. Also, thanks to MBShop for hosting this institution, and to Phil for special ordering all of those obscure parts.

Honestly, this is the best automotive brand forum out there. Quite the community here. The collective wisdom is amazing. I remember one time a guy posted that he was stranded somewhere on the highway, and literally within minutes someone here diagnosed it as a bad fuel pump relay, explained how to bypass it (pins 7 and 8), and rescued the guy from a very bad stranding experience.

I can't count the number of times someone here pinpointed my problem, and saved me huge time and/or money chasing false leads.

Thanks again, best of luck, and happy wrenching!

Yes, very nice to keep the company of the folks on this forum, and sad to see any member leave. I felt like you with my '75 450SE, waaaay back, and many times with my current 380SE. I just bought a 1986 560SL to hobby at, from a really nice guy in the Boston area, so it looks like I'll be here awhile.

There should be a Benzaholic chapter. I can't imagine life without the Benzes.

Well, you don't HAVE to have a Benz to be here. Shoot, I'd buy one just because I have enjoyed being on this forum so much. Actually, I DID buy one because of this forum.

Did you hear that, Pete? I finally will have one of my own!
