shifter problem
 

I spilled coffee on the shifter of an 2001 E55. Can anyone help me with the removal? can the part be cleaned? is it a dealer part? Got the shifter out of park but will only stay in 2nd gear,can't put back into park unless key is turned off.

w210 shifting problem
 

got the shifter out, all looks good. Car seems to be in limp home mode,only 2 nd gear works,must turn key off to place back in park and the dash light does not read what gear it is in. any one know of a way to reset the transmission so it reads what gear? thanks

To best of my knowledge, when you are in limp home mode you can repair the fault and the car will remain in limp home mode until code is cleared by SDS scanner. W/O SDS it makes it difficult to "know" whether or not you have repaired the fault.....
