W202 SRS light and battery disconnect limp mode
hello!
lately my C180's speedo needle has been sticking. today i pulled out the cluster and found that the paint on the little resting pin turned to goo, which was causing the needle to stick. that is fixed now, but when i plugged the cluster back in, the SRS light came on! i disconnected the battery for half an hour or so in an attempt to make it go away, but when i reconnected the battery, not only was the SRS light still on, but it seemed to be in some sort of "limp mode" - unable to rev past 4000! what have i done? is there some way i can reset the car, or will it need to go to the dealer? i hate this car. i wish i had stuck to my W126. thanks in advance, kaydee |
update on my situation.
well, i returned to the car and attempted to start it. its running beautifully! when i switch the ignition on, the SRS light stays on for about 5 seconds, switches off for one, i hear a click from the passenger foot well, and comes back on. i disconnected the cluster and plugged it back in and started the car. the light didn't come on at all. i was quite chuffed, switched the car off, and on again, and it came back on. is there a way i can reset the light myself? i hate this car. i want my old W126 kaydee |
SRS module is going to need to be read by SDS.
The engine is rev limited to 4k RPM in P and N. |
As TMAllison said, you turned the ignition key to the " ON " position, while you had the airbag disconnected.
Time to visit the dealer, to re-set the SRS light. ;) |
