Have any one suffer the oil in water problem in the 300E?

mind is a 1992, W124, and I found that, there are some oil leak to the cooling system, is it likely the head gasket? or may be other things else?

and how can I find out what happen?

It is most likely to be the head gasket. I once had oil in water in my volvo 240 due to a bad auto trans, but I do not think it applies to mercedeses

you can get transmission fluid leaking into the raditor from the tranny cooler that is part of your raditor (at the bottom)a lot cheaper fix than a head gasket but suppose that it might also put anti freeze water mix into the tranny anybody ever hear of that?

It is most likely the head gasket, but the head can corrode through from lack of coolant system maintenance. Been there, done that.

Good luck,

Hey William,

That happened to my volvo, the oil in the trans came out milky, and it wrecked the trans. On the brighter side, that was how I became a mercedes driver and a loyalist now. =)

Benzie, I live near Eugene Oregon the "City of Volvos" More Volvos than Fords or Chevys , I had a 544 a long time ago
the last model I liked.I think volvos are highly overated and are not even close to the MB's in any respect..........
