1995 S320 Overdrive and downshift troubles
Hi Benz experts....I posted several weeks ago in regards to my high mileage 1995 LWB S320 not shifting into overdrive. Well, heres a quick rundown of the symptoms.....No warning at all.....one day.....no overdrive. Also if I'm cruising along at 40 MPH and I floor the gas pedal it doesnt downshift at all....just lugs along in 4th gear. If I manually downshift.....it works. It also seems to shift up thru the gears to 4th gear a bit too soon.
A local Dallas Mercedes expert suggested that the OD clutch was bad. Would it go bad from one day to the next without warning or erratic behaviour? I'm wondering if there is a vacuum or modulator problem. Any suggestions? Thanks for any help! Bill....nursing an old S320 along! |

That system has a computer that records "electrical" problems. Did they scan that computer for codes??
Also the shift detent & 4th to 5th gear switch must provide the trans computer with that info. Does the shifter move over to the 4th slot easily?
