Exhaust Repairs
I had been told the last time the car was at the shop, that I needed some exhaust work done. So, I took it to a local muffler shop, and they replaced the pipe that runs from the catalytic converter to the muffler assy. It sounds quieter than a Lexus now
![]() Good Deal? Dave.

Good deal is very subjective. If you are happy then you got a good deal. Many places will tell you that you need $400 worth of stuff, so i think you did good.

I just had a new(aftermarket) Cat, muffler and resonator put on and the shop used the existing MB mountings along with a couple sections of my original pipe and the cost was $300.00 and change. Mine is quiet also and doesn't drone at 70 mph. I'll put MB type exhaust on the next time around.
Your's sound about right. if you figure that about half of the cost was labor. Steel pipe isn't cheap any more and neither is labor.

Sounds good to me. Most shops just want to replace all exhaust parts that aren't welded together. Nice that you found someone who would cut & fix.

Well, the guy owns his own shop, is the only tech, and is an older guy. He did some work for me last year on the caddy, and didn't charge but 10.00 for welding up some holes in the pipes. He replaced both pipes between the converter and the muffler assy.
60 in labor, 20 in parts. I felt pretty good about it, and plus, I really like being able to help out a small business guy, running his own shop, being independent, (as long as he does good work). Dave.
