Need suggestions on this one.

1988 300E W124 chassis
4 speed trans.

Transmission whines in park/neutral + 3rd gear???

Second issue:

Both front seats work ONLY with one of the front doors open?

is it rpm related? when was the last service? does it sound like a card in the spoke of a bycle wheel? hot of cold does it matter? could be front pump or torque converter. whine ushally comes from the torque converter stator going gunny sack. just a thought. pull the pan and look for metal.

All RPM in park or neutral.

All RPM through third gear range.

noise is possible the stator bushing, but the torque converted could also be doing it. time to pull the trans for inspection

Power seat diode - it's connection F on a 126 (124 ?) closest to fender. Two prong conmnector, unplug pull out diode and go Radio Shack. Go with a more beefier diode 1N4004
