560sel lower ball joint replacement
 
i need to do the lower ball joints. how dangerous is this without a spring compressor? i have a friend who has a shop that will help but needs some instructions. are they on the mb disc( manuel)? and how long can we expect for the job?

I have heard that it is very dangerous without a spring compressor. I also saw on this fourm, that a compressor from Harbor Freight had worked for some. I need to replace mine, also, but have yet to do so.

I've done lower ball joints w/o a spring compressor..it's doable.

What you will NEED are ball joint separator and a ball joint press..those two items are priceless.

Is an indy quote of 90.00 per side plus parts reasonable?
