Help! High Revving 300e 2.6 when cold, scary 4-7,000 rpm

I have a 88 300e with the 2.6 gas I-6, now that it is cold in utah, this car is starting just fine, then revving up to sometimes 7 grand. runs fine when heated up, but until then it feels as though the pedal is auto depressing like a cruise problem, haven't checked the fuses yet. Where should I look first, cold start injector? idle actuator? relays? help before the wife goes through the garage door.

Look at the accelerator linkage. try to disassemble, clean, & then lubricate.
