ac/vent blower oper on 85 w126

On 85 500 sel the AC works fine when leaving in AM but does
not turn on after car sets in hot sun during the day so drive home is a 460 (4windows) operation. How does one get to the pbc or climate control unit. I do not want to use a saw but this is my wife's car.
