My 83 380 SEL is burning oil like crazy and I have to add once every two weeks about a 2 litres. The catylic converter already got clogged from the soot and had to be removed. I only see black smoke out of the exhaust if you floor it but overall the car is running great, it has full power and idles properly but is starting to burn more and more oil.

The car has 250 000 miles but thats not much for a benz that is maintained properly. My mechanic said its normal for benz but at this rate I dont think so. What should I do?

I just do both city and highway driving, work and back and out places. I do about 200-300 miles in 2 weeks.

I have not done that test because it just started getting bad now. What should I do besides that?

I will have to check about the internal things but as far as leaking in the garage the bottom of the car was recently on the hoist and was checked and is totally dry. A freind told me it would need a valve job but I am not sure.
