hi im new and need some help

i have a 1988 mercedes 260e and put a new battery in. the old one died on me and when getting a jump start i think i might of blown a fuse some where. ive been told that i should look at the OVP fuse becuz my abs light is on right now and my car is not running right. also dies when i let it idle.
can any one tell me what the OVP fuse runs other then the ABS??? id love to know. thanks to any one who can help

The OVP runs almost every electrical circuits on your car.
OVP= Over voltage protector.
It is located behind a black pastic cover, behind the battery.
It has 1 or 2 fuses on top.
good luck

It looks like a little aluminum tower about 4" high. Fuse is on the top of tower under clear plastic hood. Get new one from parts here at forum.

so do you think this will stop the hole car dies when it idles problem or could it be some thing more costly. ever since my ABS light came on the car dose not run right. and that was after i got a jump start :(

You may just have the same problem as me. When i first start the car the alternator will not charge unless I rev the engine above 2500 rpm - i can tell when the alternator kicks in because the interior light gets much brighter. If i don't do this, my ABS light comes on (the owners manual says it will do this if there is unsufficient charge in the battery). Just my 2 cents...

Hey, your car IS nice! Even though it may need a lot of work, I love the model you have.

Good luck with your electrical issues.

Pull the plastic cover off behind the battery and locate the OVP relay. Sometimes they're difficult to re-install, you should be able to figure it out. It sounds like you blew a 10A fuse.

my alternator is only 6 months old and i got a new battery. my car did that befor i got my battery. i killed a fuse when jump starting my car. my ABS did not come on befor this jump start.

My car gave me something to smile about today. After my contribution to this thread, i had to drive across town - it was a beautiful day here and the car was running so smoothly, better than ever. But in the back of my mind I'm thinking 'this won't last'.

Just as i'm pulling up to my house, the ABS warning light came on...
