Check Engine Light

I have a 1996 E320 with a check engine light has been coming on. I had the code read at Auto Zone and they said it was "P1700" and "P1730". I believe these are transmission codes but the transmission seems to be operating normally. I occasionally disconnect the battery to reset the check engine light, but it usually comes back on within a week. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Maybe one of these?

P0700 Transmission Control System Malfunction
P0730 Incorrect Gear Ratio

The others don't appear to exist per my list.

The only P17XX codes that i find are:

P1747 Electronic Gear Selector Module: Defective Interaction of CAN with control unit A1(instrument cluster)
P1750 Electronic Gear Selector Module: Very low control unit supply voltage

I think you have a typo on your codes ..

You sure the codes are not P0170 and P0173 instead of P1700 and P1730 ???

If so, you have a fuel trim fault and you would want to check the vac line to the fuel pressure regulator .
